Thank you and Goodbye

As I write my 101st post and conclude my 24th year in advising and negotiating premiums to extend the lease or acquire the freehold, I have decided the time has come to retire.

I have had an amazing ride having been one of the first valuers to seize the opportunities of the Leasehold Reform, Housing and Urban Development Act 1993. Although initially practising in the new act as a salaried partner at Strutt & Parker; since setting up my eponymous company in July 2000, I have saved my clients well over £90m in premiums asked for but not obtained!

Now, with the Leasehold and Freehold Reform Act 2024 and the changed regime that will apply in due course, this feels the perfect moment to pass on the challenge to younger valuers.

I have been so fortunate to have many loyal and long-standing clients. I, of course, will be happy to remain available for them to consult me in the future.

I extend my most grateful and appreciative thanks to all those many people, both professionally and personally, who have supported me in my career. It has been a true privilege!
