The above LinkedIn hashtag sums up the dismay in the leasehold reform community in respect of Robert Jenrick’s 7 January 21 announcement that marriage value will be abolished; yet:
It is not possible to abolish it as there is always a marriage value.
The statement should have stated that all marriage value will be awarded to the lessee on any freehold or lease extension claim of 80 years or less.
In a wider sense of the hashtag – no one knows when the law will change. Rumour is 2 to 3 years at least as already commented previously in past blogs.
